what is plaintime

hello, and welcome to plaintime, a marketplace for the buying selling of any and all timepieces.

my name is shawn. i have created this website for the love of all things watches, and i hope that plaintime will be able to be able to propagate this throughout every experience you have on the site.

we want everyone to be able to enjoy this hobby as we do, in what we would like to be a comfortable environment for both the buyer, as well as the seller. regardless of what you do, who you are, what your budget is, and what you want, we hope that this is an area that allows you to find what you seek, and to enjoy doing so.

plaintime is owned and overseen directly by me. we have a small but growing team of people that will do everything we can to help with anything that is needed. we are nothing more than people both passionate about this hobby and about computers and development, who wanted to create something combining both of these things. we want to foster an environment that feels more personable and personal within this hobby, and we hope that you will allow us the opportunity to try, both buyers and sellers.

we do not know where this website will lead, or how it will turn out, but we hope to be able to create something meaningful.

how it works

to get it out of the way immediately:

the admin fee for any purchase directly through plaintime is: 5% + a $15 fixed fee.

the admin fee for escrow.com purchases is 6%.

for now, the process of buying and selling on the website will work as follows:

customers are free to sign up for an account. vendors and private sellers are free to sign up as well. the vendor form will take some extra information for your store, and will direct the vendor to a shop initilization page, where you will be able to define the characteristics of your store.

once sign up is completed, vendors will wait for approval from the admins of the site, and from that point forward will be able to list items.

every listing is currently set to automatically be reviewed, and will be approved, assuming that there is nothing wrong with it. vendors that are well-established will be able to bypass the review of listings.

once a listing is live any customer is free to purchase it. this site has a large amount of options for payment, including PayPal, Affirm, Wire, Escrow.com, Stripe, and more. It is up to the buyer to decide what type of payment is correct for them.

please note that the site will automatically adjust prices depending on the type of payment being made by customers. this is done transparently to minimally cut into the amount that vendors will receive from purchases made on the platform.

vendors, please take the above into account when listing items.

also, while escrow.com is always a good option, all payments made through the site are currently routed through the website itself before going to the seller. this means that we can hold the funds for large purchases directly until delivery is made to the customer, if the buyer so desires. this allows both customer security for the piece, and also the seller to be paid faster than waiting for a normal escrow to release the funds.

as a buyer, please make sure that you choose the correct option for what your needs / level of security is. we will do everything we can to work with you and the seller to maintain a smooth experience as well.

as a vendor, you may request withdraws of money from the website at any amount over $50. there are no withdraw fees through plaintime, and any amount withdrawn can be sent to either a paypal account or a bank directly.

there is an option on the checkout page to have the watch’s authenticity verified during the purchasing process. authentication services requires the vendor to physically mail the watch to plaintime. we will value the cost of authentication once the piece is in our hands, and the authentication will be a separately-charged cost from the actual purchase of the watch.

all watches that are authenticated via plaintime’s authentication service are guaranteed to be authentic.
